What is our role?

The Parish Leadership Team (PLT) exists to provide guidance and advice to the parish priest in a spirit of mutual listening and shared responsibility. It is not a legal entity, but the parish expects the parish priest to consider the views of the PLT when making significant decisions.

Inspired by Pope Francis’ call for ordinary Catholics to have a greater voice in Church decision-making, the PLT is committed to engaging with and listening to the Parish community. It strives to reflect the concerns and aspirations of the community in all its diversity.

Main Functions

The Parish Leadership Team (PLT) will carry out, but not be limited to, the following five key functions:

1.      Planning
In collaboration with parishioners, the PLT will develop a parish strategic plan for their approval. This plan will reflect the parish's mission in areas such as liturgical and spiritual life, education and faith formation, community engagement, support for the vulnerable, and stewardship of parish resources. It will outline both short- and long-term goals, strategies to achieve them, and focus on fostering leadership skills and succession planning.

2.      Supporting
The PLT will offer support to parishioners involved in various groups and activities that contribute to fulfilling the parish's mission.

3.      Initiating
The PLT will introduce new activities, processes, policies, and structures in response to the identified needs and aspirations of parishioners.

4.      Communicating
The PLT will establish effective two-way communication methods tailored to the diverse needs of parishioners. It will also convene and report to an annual parishioners' forum.

5.      Considering Risk
The PLT will provide advice on identifying and addressing risks, particularly those related to the safety and well-being of children and vulnerable adults in the parish.

Guiding Principles for the Parish Leadership Team

The Parish Leadership Team (PLT) members are expected to:

Value all voices, listen to understand, and empower others.

  5. Serve Selflessly
Work for the common good and serve the parish with dedication.

  6. Be Collaborative
